Overview

Our Nuclear Services Group is seeking a Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer to support multiple clients. This position can be located in Kennesaw, GA, Baton Rouge, LA, Chattanooga, TN, FT Worth, TX, Overland Park, KS, or other office locations.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering analysis, HVAC design development and generation of HVAC design output documents including but not limited to: calculations for equipment sizing, duct sizing, pressure drops, cooling tower sizing, heating and cooling loads, and air balancing
  • Will be responsible to create/modify piping and instrumentation diagrams; system descriptions; mechanical equipment lists; integrate with fire protection design; and vendor document reviews
  • Must be familiar with ASHRAE, AHRI, NFPA, SMACNA National Codes, and Standards
  • Knowledge of nuclear HVAC design is preferred
  • Creating and revising HVAC design documentation in one or more of the following areas: Process Flow; Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams; System Descriptions; Mechanical Equipment Lists; Mechanical Equipment Sizing; Material Handling Design; Fire Protection Design; Sizing Calculations, and Vendor Document Reviews
  • Candidate must be able to perform field walk-downs to document as-installed conditions
  • Effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to work across disciplines and teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in nuclear design or experience in the field of HVAC related work
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with design of HVAC systems 
  • Thermal-hydraulic and design modification experienced desired
  • Demonstrated proficiency in preparation of mechanical calculations
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Good writing, presentation, and communication skills
  • Experience in the nuclear industry of 5 years of more is desired
  • Ability to be an individual contributor and work effectively in teams
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear facility
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings; ENERCON and client-specific background checks; and an annual motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company and client policies
