Overview

ENERCON's Power Delivery group is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to join the team in the Orlando, FL, Dallas, TX, Kennesaw, GA or Nashville (Madison), TN office. This position is also open to other ENERCON locations in the Mountain, Central and Eastern time zones, and possibly remote for the right candidate. 

Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate and contribute toward complex projects in both a design and project leadership capacity, interfacing with our current and future customers directly, while working on challenging and exciting low to high voltage substation engineering projects. 

  • Act as the subject matter expert for detailed 4kV -500kV substation physical design and/or protection control and SCADA design projects
  • Typical substation physical design deliverables includes one line drawings, three line drawings, general arrangement drawings, section and plan views, conduit and cable plan & schedule, grounding plan, foundation plan drawings, Bill of materials and construction aid documentation
  • Typical substation protection and control engineering projects deliverables include relay one line drawings, AC and DC schematic drawings, Panel front drawings, Bill of materials, Control house layout, wiring drawings, construction letters
  • Review Protection and control relay settings files and work with relay settings engineers to ensure the relay settings are correct
  • Lead substation design projects on an as needed basis
  • Perform substation design calculations and analysis such as ground grid analysis and design, lightning protection studies, lighting design, rigid bus calculations, AC and DC voltage drop calculations
  • Perform quality control checks on substation physical engineering and/or protection and control design projects
  • Coordinate projects with different teams for Protection & Controls, Structural, Civil, Transmission and Design/Drafting teams
  • Develop technical equipment and construction specifications and work scopes
  • Perform physical design in Microstation, AutoCAD or similar CAD tools on an as needed basis
  • Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that will meet client and industry standards and specifications and meet good engineering practices
  • Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required
  • Produce project cost estimates, schedules, and budgets for projects
  • Perform quality control checks substation physical and/or protection and control engineering design projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering or Civil engineering
  • 10 or more years’ experience in substation engineering design required
  • Experience with Microstation, AutoCad and/or Bluebeam
  • Experience working with WinIGS is preferred
  • PE license is strongly preferred in this role but not a requirement
  • Familiarity with NESC, IEEE and other applicable codes and standards
  • Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE
  • Self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables
  • Proficient with typical office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Windows
