Overview

The Turbine Control SME will utilize their expertise gathered through hands on and detailed design work across multiple turbine control platforms and balance of plant projects at electric power producing facilities. As a project team member, they will be responsible for the technical evaluation, upgrades, design, specifying, and troubleshooting of existing and proposed turbine controls and related systems. The SME will ensure project delivery and customer satisfaction through technical oversight and management of project related activities and resources. The SME will mentor engineers on the across a variety of I&C and Electrical Engineering principals. 

Responsibilities

Due to continued growth, our EG Division is seeking a Turbine Control Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Mary, Tampa, Kennesaw, Birmingham, or Chattanooga locations.

  • Provide technical direction and complex problem solving associated with the maintenance, trouble shooting, and upgrades of existing turbine equipment, power producing facilities, and infrastructure
  • Prepare specifications, statements of work, and cost estimates for all types of turbine generators and related equipment and systems
  • Assist in the defining of customer requirements and needs and the conformity of the system to the contractual specifications
  • Provide engineering and design packages with the support of fellow engineers in accordance with client requirements
  • Provide technical documentation as required
  • Act as internal technical point of contact for all things turbine controls
  • Work with multi-discipline engineers assigned to project
  • Participate in project review meetings, project milestone meetings
  • Coordinate support of site activities with the Project Managers as needed
  • Perform other duties as required not specifically related to turbine controls

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Proven work history designing, maintaining, specifying, or otherwise working with utility scale power producing facilities, specifically turbine control systems
  • Working efficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Experience in turbine control systems
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standard control system communication protocols
  • Willing to travel 25%-50% of the time which would include fieldwork; duration may vary depending on project and client needs

Preferred Qualifications / Skills

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Experience with NERC CIP requirements
  • Experience in multiple turbine control systems across different manufacturers
