Overview

Due to continued growth, our Nuclear Services Group is looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer onsite at Crane Clean Energy Center (formerly TMI 1) in Middletown, PA. In this role, you will coordinate with diverse disciplines, review designs, and manage projects with autonomy. Additionally, you will prepare specs, evaluate bids, and innovate solutions to technical challenges. Responsibilities

  • Lead and provide day to day direction for a team of engineers and technical staff to produce engineering design products for commercial nuclear power plants.  The products include calculations, studies, and engineering change packages
  • Under the direction a Discipline Supervisor, lead a discipline-specific Engineering Unit sub-group comprised of Engineers and engineering staff
  • Identify and promote opportunities for site work. Identify and promote training opportunities (ex: owner’s groups, manufacturer, professional society)
  • Utilize the review/approval process of deliverables as technical training opportunity for staff 
  • Provide timely and appropriate performance feedback and coaching
  • Manage their own applied time and the applied time for their staff to meet applied time goals
  • Provide supervision and technical guidance and mentorship to Mechanical Engineering staff
  • Coordinate task assignments to maximize staff utilization
  • Ensure the discipline staff is planning and executing work effectively
  • Ensure that the staff maintain schedules, budgets and quality of deliverables
  • Support ENERCON marketing via proposal development, cost estimates, and developing relationships with client counterparts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum 7 years of mechanical engineering experience in the nuclear industry
  • EIT or PE License in one or more states preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in preparation of mechanical calculations
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards
  • Ability to gain and maintain unescorted access at nuclear sites
  • Strong coordination and team building skills; demonstrated ability to work across disciplines, divisions, and teams
  • Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail
  • Strong coordination and team-building skills; demonstrated ability to work across disciplines, divisions, and teams.  Ability to assess and understand team strengths and weaknesses and adjust level of support/oversight as appropriate
  • Ability to motivate team and achieve goals through positive, winning attitude and effective leadership style which is consistent with ENERCON’s Defining Excellence fundamentals
  • Problem-solving and general scientific evaluation skills
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Must be able to perform plant walkdowns, crawling, climbing ladders, and navigating uneven terrain

This position may offer per diem for non local candidates.
