Our Power Delivery Group is currently hiring a Safety Specialist to work onsite at our client location in Los Alamos, NM. This is a contract/temporary role with the anticipated end of December 2026. This assignment may be extended based on client needs.
The Safety Specialist works closely with field staff, clients and subcontractors, all levels of management, and personnel from external organizations during all phases of electric construction projects (typically 13-138V). This individual will be responsible for field-level safety supervision, site audits, training, and incident investigations while ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NESC, and company policies. The Specialist must be committed to ensuring adherence to safety-related policies, procedures, and regulations while developing positive professional relationships. This is a location-based position encompassing worksites throughout the assigned project area and requires varying amounts of travel.
This position will be eligible for per diem for non-local candidates. The Rate will be $110.00 per day for lodging, and $68 per day for meals and incidental expenses.
In this role, you will champion safety across high‑voltage field operations—strictly enforcing PPE and lockout/tagout protocols. You will also collaborate with engineers and operations to design site‑specific safety plans that protect teams and meet both client and regulatory standards.
Electrical Safety Oversight: Supervise and enforce electrical safety protocols for HV field operations. Ensure all personnel adhere to safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout policies
Audits & Inspections: Conduct regular job site safety audits and hazard assessments.
Conduct proactive behavior-based and quality-focused field safety observations and PPE hazard assessments. Perform ongoing site visits to observe and document safety behaviors and work conditions to ensure a safety focus throughout all phases of electric construction projects
Collaboration & Planning: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field crews to identify and mitigate safety risks. Partner with Operations leadership to create site-specific safety plans; actively participate in safety meetings to review job hazard analysis and hazard recognition tools. Participate in project kick off and progress meetings. Participate in site-specific safety planning. Support client-specific safety requirements programs and ensure alignment and compliance between client expectations, company rules, and applicable safety regulations
Incident Management & Investigation: Conduct accident/injury investigations including root cause analyses. Provide support to Operations organization for incident case management and documentation steps. Follow‑up with Operations organization to ensure completion of corrective actions for all accidents and incidents. Complete final review incident case management and documentation
Performance & Compliance Review: Support company safety committees with assessment of safety performance trends, implementing processes, and tool improvements.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to environmental protection or occupational health and safety
Training & Ethical Standards: Customer required trainings. Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards
Location Requirement: Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location
